ResumePro ("we," "our," or "us") is a Chrome extension and web service that uses AI to customize resumes for specific job postings. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our Chrome extension and associated backend service.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials. If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account email and profile name.

Resume Data: When you upload a master resume (DOCX or PDF), we parse and store the contents including your name, contact information, work experience, education, skills, and any other information contained in your resume.

Job Posting Data: When you use the extension to customize a resume, we collect the job title, company name, and job description text from the page you are viewing.

Generated Resumes: We store customized resumes generated by our AI service. These are automatically deleted after 7 days.

Usage Data: We track how many resume customizations you perform each month to enforce plan limits.

Contact Information: If you submit a message through our contact form, we store your name, email, and message content.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Resume Customization: Your resume data and job posting data are sent to the Anthropic Claude AI API to generate a tailored resume. This is the core functionality of our service.
• Account Management: Your email and credentials are used to authenticate you and manage your account.
• Usage Tracking: We track customization counts to enforce free and paid plan limits.
• Communication: We may use your email to respond to contact form submissions or send service-related notifications.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may process your data:

• Anthropic (Claude AI): Resume and job description data is sent to the Anthropic API to generate customized resumes. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
• Stripe: If you upgrade to a paid plan, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your credit card information. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
• Razorpay: For users in India, payment processing may be handled by Razorpay. See Razorpay's Privacy Policy.
• Resend: We use Resend to send transactional emails (contact form replies). See Resend's Privacy Policy.
• Railway: Our backend is hosted on Railway. See Railway's Privacy Policy.

4. Data Storage and Retention

• Master Resumes: Stored until you delete them or delete your account.
• Generated Resumes: Automatically expire and are deleted after 7 days.
• Account Data: Retained as long as your account is active.
• Contact Messages: Retained for customer support purposes.

Our database is hosted on Railway's infrastructure with PostgreSQL. Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections.

5. Chrome Extension Permissions

The ResumePro Chrome extension requests the following permissions:

• activeTab: To read job posting content from LinkedIn, Indeed, and Naukri pages when you click the "Customize Resume" button.
• storage: To store your authentication token locally in the browser.
• Host permissions (LinkedIn, Indeed, Naukri): To inject the "Customize Resume" button on supported job posting pages.

The extension only reads page content when you actively click the customize button. It does not passively monitor your browsing activity.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. Your data is shared only with the third-party services listed in Section 3, solely for the purposes of providing our service.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Update or correct your information
• Stop using the extension at any time by uninstalling it

8. Security

We implement security measures including:

• HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
• JWT-based authentication with secure token handling
• Rate limiting on API endpoints
• Input validation and sanitization
• CORS restrictions to authorized origins only

9. Children's Privacy

ResumePro is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
